Lake Shkodra is the largest lake in the Balkan Peninsula. Located between Albania and Montenegro, Lake Shkodra has an area of 362 km2; from which 149 km2 belong to Albania.
The main tourist destinations on the lake shore are Shiroka and Zogaj where many restaurants serve the lake’s fish specialties like carps and eels. The lake is one of the largest European bird reserves. Lake Shkodra was included in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance in 1996.
