Tirana

Albania’s capital, as well as its financial, cultural and administrative centre, Tirana is located on the Ishm River, surrounded by a picturesque ring of mountains. Its own special blend of Balkan sparkle and lively café culture are what first attract tourists to Tirana.

Sarande

Situated on the shores of the Ionian Sea, in the south-west corner of Albania, Sarandë is a popular holiday resort on Albania’s “Riviera”. Many day-trippers visit it by ferry from the Greek island of Corfu, which lies just a few kilometres away.

Shkoder

Located close to the Montenegrin border, in the north-west of the country, Shkodër lies in the foreground of the Albanian Alps.

Prespa Lake

Located on the Greek, Macedonian and Albanian border, Prespa Lake has an area of 285 km2, from which 38.8 km2 belong to Albania.

Apollonia

The archaeological site of Apollonia locates in central-western part of Albania, about 10 km west of Fier. Apollonia was founded in 558 BC by settlers from Corfu and Corinth.

Shkodra Lake

Lake Shkodra is the largest lake in the Balkan Peninsula. Located between Albania and Montenegro, Lake Shkodra has an area of 362 km2; from which 149 km2 belong to Albania.

Ohrid Lake

Located in the western part of the country, bordered with Republic of Macedonia, Ohrid Lake is the most popular among the Albanian lakes.

The town of Kruja locates about 40 km north of Tirana. Kruja is the hometown of Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg and the town was the center of Albanian resistance under the leadership of Skanderbeg against the Ottoman Turks in the 15^th century.
